Rebecca Scaff to participate in FCCLA Creative Cake Championship Saturday, April 12!

Performing well in a culinary art is arguably one of the more rewarding accomplishments that one can possibly be a part of.

For Becky Scaff, she gets to show the entire state what she can do in the field. The senior, a regional winner in the Creative Cakes competition, will participate in the 2019 Culinary Career Development Events State Finals on April 13 at the Columbus Culinary Institute in Columbus.  Read More

Shawnee State eSports is proud to announce the signing of Patrick Redoutey from Northwest High School.  Redoutey is the first eSport signing of the year and is the first local recruit in the history for Shawnee State University's eSport team.

Band Uniform donated to the NHS Band Department

Mrs. Stephan and the Marching Mohawks are all smiles today as they say “thank you” to Janice Baldwin for donating an original 1959 NHS band uniform!  This uniform is the very first uniform worn by our Marching Mohawks and will be displayed in our music department!  

 


 

 
Congratulations Eagle Scouts!

On Sunday, December 2, Marty Smith and Ben Shinkle both passed their Eagle Scout Boards of Review. This means Northwest High School currently has FOUR students who are Eagle Scouts! Only 3%-4% of all Boy Scouts achieve this rank, so to have four Eagle Scouts in Northwest at the same time is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to you four Eagle Scouts!

A mandatory CC+ meeting for students planning on taking courses on campus at SSU next school year (2019-2020). Parent or Guardian must be in attendance.    The meeting will take place in the High school Cafetorium on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.  This will be the only scheduled meeting with Shawnee State.  See Attachment

Attached is the most recent schedule for our Marching Mohawks. The students have been and still are working diligently to finish our competition show for this year titled "Trapped in Time." We are excited to premiere the full show on September 22, 2018
 

 
 
2018 Football Homecoming Spirit Events

Theme- "There's No Place Like Homecoming"

17 Monday- "Welcome to Kansas" -Dress in country attire.  (flannel, boots, overalls, etc.)

18 Tuesday- "Time Twister Tuesday" Dress in clothes from your favorite time period or era.

19 Wednesday-"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"-Wear as many different colors as possible.

20 Thursday- "There's a Storm Coming"- Go all out in your NW gear, school colors, or HOCO shirt and bring the thunder to the district wide pep assembly.

21 Friday- "It's Not Where You Go, It's Who You Meet Along the Way"- Dress as your favorite Wizard of Oz character.

 

District Pep Rally on 20th.  

Schedule is 1:30 to 2:10.  

NHS and NMS will dismiss from gymnasium at 2:10.

The Lady Mohawks set a school record scoring 7 goals in a game!

The Lady Mohawks picked up their first win of the season in a conference matchup with Portsmouth West.  The 7-1 victory gives the Mohawks some momentum heading into week three of the season and a school record for number of goals scored in a game.

The Valley game on 8/22/18 has changed times  and will start at 6:00 p.m.   The bus is leaving at 5:00 p.m.

 
Evan Throckmorton sets new school record with 7 goals!

The first regular season boys soccer game was held on 8-20-18 against Clay High School.  Senior Evan Throckmorton started out his senior year with not only a win but set a new school record with 7 goals!  The previous record was 6 set by his coach Josh Keeney (2001)!  Congratulations Evan!  Mohawk Proud!!

Sport physical information
 
Attached you will find copies of the SOMC Permission for General Screening Exam Form and a copy of the current OHSAA Sports Physical form.  Please remember students and parents that if the student has a diagnosed or chronic health condition (example: congenital heart defect or current bone fracture), he or she will not be cleared for sports participation at the sports physical offering at school without a current letter of clearance from the attending physician.  There is an attached copy of this letter on the sports physical forms.  Otherwise the student will have to be cleared by their healthcare provider.

The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day for schools that register for the service.

College Credit Plus has moved up their informational timelines quite a bit.  This is for students who plan on taking courses ON CAMPUS at SSU only.  The meeting will be Monday 11/13 at 6p.  This is a mandatory meeting and will be the only one conducted at NHS.  Please share the attached file with your students.
