Message from the Principals
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Northwest Elementary School! We hope you are as excited as us about starting this school year. We are fortunate to have such a fine facility and excellent teachers who are dedicated to providing all students with the best learning opportunities possible. Our secretaries, teacher aides, cooks, custodians, bus drivers and volunteers are also an important part of our school team and committed to making this a great year for everyone. I would like to welcome Mr. Greg Tipton our 3-5 principal to NES. Mr. Tipton was Principal at NES about 12 years ago and it's nice to have him on our team!
We are proud of our students and staff on their involvement with our Online AR Program. We challenged the students to read 23,000 books and they read over 25,000! This program will continue this year and the new goal is 24,000. I wouldn’t be surprised if they read 30,000 this year. Last school year, I was tied to a tree. It looks like we've got our work cut out for us!
I wanted to highlight our K-3 literacy at NES! We achieved a "B" rating for K-3 literacy and we our proud of that! Also, our 5th grade math was #1 in Scioto County! We are committed to continue our persuit of excellence and will never stop looking at new ways to improve!
Parents, please carefully review this handbook with your child. We welcome and encourage parents to be actively involved. As partners in your child’s education, we can accomplish so much more toward helping our students become educated and responsible citizens. Our school motto sums up what it takes to make this a great year for everyone:
RESPECT + RESPONSIBILITY = RESULTS.
Mr. Martin & Mr. Tipton
