Northwest Local School District

Superintendent's Letter To Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Northwest Local School District and the 2016-17 school year! As an administrator and educational professional for 16 years, I've had the opportunity to work with students from all walks of life. There is no doubt in my mind that Northwest offers exactly what students need to grow.

I am proud to be able to join an energetic and passionate staff that is focused on creating positive learning experiences for students. The district lives its mission every day. Our mission statement: ""Preparing students to meet the academic, social, civic and career needs for a global society." At Northwest we create passionate learners by maximizing student achievement through dynamic learning experiences which inspire and provide a quality education for all students within a safe and community-supported environment."

As I begin my tenure as your Superintendent, I have a vested interest in providing a quality educational environment for all students, staff and families in the school district as I plan to be a part of the community for some time. One of my greatest beliefs is that all students can learn given an educational environment that is excellent. An environment that is inspiring, positive, and enriching makes school engaging and when students look forward to attending school, they will learn. Anticipation and hope surrounds each new year of school for students. Together we can create an educational atmosphere that our community is proud of and experiences that will last long after students graduate. I invite you to join us in continuing the big school opportunities that we provide in a small school setting here at Northwest. I am grateful to be joining your team.

Sincerely,

Dana Pollock, Ed.D
Superintendent
Northwest Local School District

Roby Bach Memorial Scholarship

Roby Bach was a retired principal and teacher from Northwest Local Schools. He loved volunteering in the schools and helping kids. He passed away suddenly on December 25, 2015. We would like to encourage all Northwest staff to support the Roby Bach Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mr. Bach was truely a positive force in his personal and professional life. He was always there to help anyone in need. The money generated for this scholarship will directly help a male and female student from Northwest and New Boston. I know that Mr. Bach would appreciate this generosity directed toward students!

Memorial contributions may be made to the Roby Bach Memorial Scholarship Fund at any US Bank Branch.

Attention 11th Grade

The Ohio Department of Health mandates the immunizations necessary for students attending school in Ohio. Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine is a NEW required vaccine for 12 grade students attending Ohio schools starting in the Fall of 2016. This updated information impacts our current 11th Grade Students.

• 2 Doses of the meningococcal vaccine must be administered prior to entry to Grade 12. The recommended MCV4 minimum interval is at least 8 weeks between dose one (1) and dose two (2). If the first (1st) dose of MCV4 was administered on or after the 16th Birthday, a second (2nd) dose is not required.
