Welcome to the site of the Northwest Mohawks!  We are excited about the 2014-2015 school year!  The Staff, Administration and Board of Education of the Northwest Local School District are committed to providing the highest quality education for all students.  Our mission is to be a “unified partnership with families and community, and committed to providing all students the maximum opportunities to develop into life-long learners and productive citizens.”

The District purchased 300 Chrome Books for use in Grades 3 through 8.  This allows teachers greater flexibility to utilize technology in their individual classrooms.  The Chrome Books will also be utilized to administer required State testing.

Northwest High School has once again been named as a “School of Promise.”  We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff and the efforts they put forth to maintain this status.

The District accomplished several projects to the campus grounds over the past several months:

þ  A repaving project around Northwest High School and behind Northwest Middle School was completed just before the start of the school year.

þ  A new drainage system was  installed around the football field, as well as re-crowning of the field and reseeding.  While we were unable to play our home games on the field this fall, we look forward to returning “home” for our varsity football and soccer games next school year.

þ  The track has been repaired and resurfaced and is ready for the 2015 track season.

Another addition to the District is the purchase of 6 new propane-fueled school buses…4 full-size buses and 2 handicapped equipped buses.  The District is the first in our area to purchase propane buses.

I would like to thank you for visiting the Northwest Local School District web-site, and I hope you will take a few minutes to explore the information available to you.  Several areas are still “under construction” so keep checking back to see what’s new.

It is a pleasure to partner with you in the education of the children of the Northwest community.
