Math-a-thon
The Northwest Middle School is participating
in the St. Jude’s Math-a-thon. The purpose of this fundraiser is
to encourage students to become aware of the importance of helping
youngsters that are suffering from life threatening ailments. (Many
of children are receiving aggressive treatment for their illnesses.)
The St. Jude’s Foundation is responsible for research
in finding cures for many childhood diseases. They also assist
families who have had to relocate, in their effort, to receive
treatment for a sibling.
Students are given a booklet of math problems
and are asked to have individuals sponsor them for each math problem
that they work correctly. The money is then collected, with top
prize winners receiving gifts for their effort.
