8th
Grade Trip to Chicago
Northwest Middle School is implementing a special program
for 8th grade students. If students have maintained an “honor roll
status” over their past three years at Northwest Middle School,
they will be eligible to take an 8th grade “class trip” to a selected
location: Chicago, New York, or Washington, D.C.
This year’s 8th grade class has chosen the nation’s “windy city”,
Chicago, Illinois. Students are participating in fundraising activities
to help defer the expense of their trip.
This is a special incentive for both 6th and 7th
grade students to work diligently to ensure their opportunity
to participate in this “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY
DAY ONE
By 7:00am Depart McDermott for Chicago.
9:30am Break en route.
12:00pm Fast-food lunch included
en route.
1:00pmEST Continue-Time changes
at Remington, IN so turn back your clock.
2:30pmCST Arrive at Navy Pier and
enjoy the afternoon on your own. Activities
include carnival-type rides, 30-minute harbor skyline cruises,
IMAX Theatre, shopping and more.
4:30pm Meet the group at Bubba
Gump’s for dinner, included.
5:30pm Depart Navy Pier.
6:15pm Arrive at the John Hancock
Observatory for a bird’s-eye view of
Chicago. Afterwards, as time allows, explore the Magnificent Mile.
8:00pm Depart for the motel for
the evening.
9:00pm Arrive at the motel and
check in for the night.
DAY TWO
7:00am Hot/Cold breakfast bar at the Motel, included.
8:15am Depart for a cruise this
morning.
10:00am Board Chicago’s First Lady
for an Architectural River Cruise.
11:30am Return and depart for lunch.
12:30pm Lunch included at Gino’s
East.
1:30pm Depart for Shedd Aquarium.
2:00pm Enjoy the Shedd Aquarium
and Oceanarium.
5:00pm Depart for a visit to Millenium
Park (FREE)
7:00pm Dinner included at Medieval
Times.
8:30pm Return to the motel for
the night.
DAY THREE
7:00am Hot/Cold breakfast bar included at motel, check
out and load the
coach.
8:30am Depart for the Field Museum
of Natural History.
9:00am Tour the Field Museum.
11:30am Depart for lunch
12:00pm Lunch at Ed Debevics, included.
1:00pm Depart for home.
3:00pm Break en route.
5:00pm Fast-food dinner en route,
included.
7:30pm Break en route.
10:00pm Arrive in McDermott.
