PTO Wants Help!
Hello Comrades – We are super excited
to start really working to improve our student’s school spirit
and sense of community! We’ve already started planning events
to get everyone involved. We feel the PTO can play a big role in
helping our kids enjoy school! We’re asking you to help in
any aspect you feel comfortable. Our first event is next week –
Movie and Popcorn after school. If you feel energetic, we are asking
for bake-sale type items. The popcorn has already been provided
and all the drinks have been donated! All we need are baked goodies
(or store bought)! The movie (Hop) is next Thursday, March 29 from
2:30–5. If you can stay we would be more than happy to have
the extra help. If you can make it to a PTO meeting that would also
be great. Ideas, suggestions and help are always needed. Thanks
in advance for your help!
Ideas for the future:
Ice Cream Social
Track & Field Day
Fall Carnival
Monthly Lunch Snacks
School Store
Community Outreach Projects
Talent Show
Dances
Corn Hole Tournaments

for the selection of two participants. A Spelling Bee was held earlier
in the day to determine the top ten finalists for the School Bee.
The top ten qualifying spellers had to take part
in a three round event. Each individual received points for his/her
placement in the three rounds.
The first place runner-up was 7th grade
student Grace Hobbs, daughter of Jodi and Angie Hobbs. The winning
speller was 6th grade student Kyle Altman, son of Chris Altman and
grandson of Mrs. Lillian Altman.
Kyle will compete in the Scioto County Spelling Bee. The event will
be held on February 12th at 7:00 p.m. at the Friends Center

Mrs. Hurst
Mr. Patrick Colegrove's High School Chorus presented their 2011

also engaged the Middle School students to join in a sing-a-long
of some all-time favorite Christmas songs.
A special duet was sung by Kindergarten student
Reece Lute and High School chorus member, Dicey Boyd entitled, "The
Christmas Shoes."
Reece is the son of teachers Amy and Jared Lute.
Devon Holsinger, a former Middle School Student,
is pictured above with his pop tabs. Devon is undergoing a Heart
Surgery at Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Northwest Middle
School Homerooms collected pop tabs for Devon and his family for
their expenses while staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus.
Please keep Devon and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Northwest Middle School recently honored Marsha
Jordan with a Retirement Party in her honor. Her friends at the
Middle School presented her with a rocking chair, card, and flower
arrangement. No event could not be held unless a famous "Faye
Cake" was served to those in attendance.
On behalf of all of Marsha's friends that she has
made throughout her years working in the Northwest Local School
District, we say thank-you for all that you have done.
