Introduction to Literature and Composition

What extra-curricular activities are you in charge of?

I am in charge of Drama Club.

How many years have you been teaching?

This is my first year.

Have you taught at any other schools? If so, where did you teach and which subject(s) did you teach?

I did my student teaching at Green High School in Franklin Furnace and I taught 9th and 11th grade English.

Where did you attend college and which degree(s) do you have?

I attended Ohio University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in English; also I attended Shawnee State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in English Humanities with a concentration in Integrated Language Arts.

In high school what activities/sports were you involved in?

I was in the band and in drama club.

Did you work prior to becoming a teacher? If so, where, for how long?

Yes. I worked at the Ohio University library for four years, the Scioto Foundation for one year, and Mexitali for two years.

Do you have another job after school or in the summer?

No, thankfully.

What did you always want to be when growing up?

A teacher!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Reading, playing video games, painting/drawing, practicing poor photography, and writing.

What do you like most about Northwest?

Being a Northwest alumna, teaching here is extremely comfortable for me. I have always loved the school community here because it’s so close and caring. I feel very welcome with the students and staff, and I absolutely love the support all the teachers give each other.

What advice do you want to give to your students?

High school is the time to really begin understanding yourself and the world around you. Dream up huge dreams and work hard to achieve things you want in your life because life goes by far too rapidly.

What is your favorite movie?

Asking me to pick my favorite movie is like asking a parent to pick their favorite child. I have a love for the arts, so I can appreciate the artistry in any work. I love old films, like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the Harry Potter series, Christmas movies, Chris Farley movies, etc. I could write pages about all the movies I love.

What are your favorite songs?

My favorite songs change every few weeks. I love music of almost every genre. For this very moment in time my favorite songs are “Train” by Brick & Mortar, “Don’t Wait Up” by Robert Delong, and “Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

I really love Washington D.C. because of its history and diversity.
